  1. If only wishing made it so... I think about it a lot, but I have yet to really commit to the effort. Maybe I'll get incentive here!

    Good luck with your journey.

  2. Who's Keith? When you say relative by marriage, I'm running through names in my head. I do think fitday is a good site. I tried it several years back, and another one, though I can't think of the name right now. Wonder if I still have an active account there? No clue what my password etc was then. I was good at keeping track of my steps, my exericse at the time, though had trouble with figuring out calories for the food I ate. Lots of luck, keep me posted.

  3. Good luck Jan. I have made peace with myself & my weight. I do not have an unhealthy diet, but I am someone who is, seemingly, destined to be overweight. I will not be unhappy for weight loss, so I am hoping for you, that this will give you what you are looking for, as well as leaving you content.

  4. I know when we were with you on the lake you were talking about this. Since we saw you I have lost 10 lbs in about a month and am back in the gym. One great workout tip I learned and enjoy- chocolate milk. Great for after a great workout.

  8. Over the weekend I cooked some eggplant (diced and peeled) with some onion, red bell pepper, garlic and olive oil. After it had cooked for a while I added some home canned tomatoes and let simmer. I served that with some pita, feta and fruit salad. Monday evening My wife added some bread crumbs and feta in a casserole dish in the oven. Even better the second time around.

  10. Thought I'd check here to see if you'd been able to comment and I see you have but as anonymous...I think you want to sign into your google account and use your google account sign in to make your comments, so they have your name on them. I remember way way back after Julie had you open a new gmail account or new google account?? Trying to remember which you had the same problem, and we couldn't get from one blog to the other, and think this might be an extension of that. You started your writing blog with your netwalk email, I think, then somewhere along the line blogger had everyone switch to their gmail, so when you started the animal blog you used your gmail account, but then??? added a new email associated with your webpage to your writers blog? Look at all 3 blogs and see what the default block says next to comment as.

  11. On the food side of things, don't remember if it was fitday or the other one I was apart of for awhile where I read this tip you might try. Someone blogged that they had a cut off eating time. If they had dinner at 6 their cut off might have been 830, the time wasn't the important thing, as everyone's schedule is different. But she stressed she thought it was important to have a few hours after the evening meal in case you decided you wanted a little something....some the cut off time would allow for that. After the cut off time, she made a point to brush her teeth rather then waiting for going to bed prep. She said once you brush your teeth, you're less likely to snack. She said there were times she'd been at the computer and think I'll go get a snack of x y z, and remembered she'd brushed her teeth and would have to do it all over again and thus that kept her from snacking. Plus, she said some things really don't taste good right after you brush your teeth.

Though I don't have a battle with food, I find I'm not very knowledgeable about food and that was why I joined the fitday and the one I can't remember. It was interesting to learn about food, sometimes I was surprised where the calories came from. Also found it a good way to track exercise which I do need to do, even without the food battle. As we get older...it's needed.

  12. I started clean eating like 3 months ago...figured out it does not mean unlimited clean eating about 2 months ago...I've lost like 15 lb (partly because I've had so many special occasions....). Anyway good LUCK!! I do fitday too!! And I'm going to probably do a bit of take shape for life for the end results...I've got either 15 or 25 more lb to go....I think....

  13. Hello! Wow, I was blown away to see my name in your site! You are a true enterprising person Jan, thanks so much for all your kind words. I am honored to be your faithful companion in our journey to unthinkable levels of great health.

I would love to share some insights: First, let us eliminate the words "I can’t" from our vocabulary. This phrase may have been useful to us sometime in our lives to get us out of things that we would rather not do. Now, when things begin to feel difficult we use "I can’t" as an easy route around having to face any reality that we are trying to escape. When we say, "I can" in the face of inevitable obstacles it initiates new connections that begin to wire together unlocking our "bring it on" spirit. We must learn to think in new and positive ways about any challenges that we face.

Quick review about me: 18-20 months ago, I began to rewire my old life into what I wanted it to be. I still have some goals to reach but would never have expected the progress that I have made to be so easy and rewarding. It took 6 months to shed about 130lbs. going from 330- to under 200lbs. while packing on an additional 30lbs. of lean muscle to my frame. I feel so much better, and I want everyone to know that while we may not all have super beach bodies anymore, untold levels of fitness and health are available to anyone who is willing to face their personal truths about why we eat the way we do and decide that there are more mindful paths to follow.

Jan you are sure to succeed in your goals and I can only imagine where your successes will take us! I will be here enjoying the ride! Thanks for your time. More to come. If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to share anything that I can with you.
    LIVE INSPIRED!
